I.

Like a habit

water breaks

plunge-in

resurface, gasp

then realize, remember

breath becomes again and again.

II.

I’m not the same person I was

before falling asleep creek side

under a blanket of stars—

Contemplating

star-gazing

eye-gazing

under a blanket of infinite possibility.

III.

Two ducks stand at the well

in dense morning mist.

The only beings present to greet my arrival.

One duck lifts-up,

broad feathered wings

sweep through air,

wing-tips graze glass water.

Unhurried force and grace

the only thing to be seen or heard.

IV.

Oh stars!

Let me ask you. What’s new?

I know you aren’t the same as you were last night.

When you look down are you reminded

of infinite possibility?

V.

I’m not the same person I was

before the jump.

Clambering around rock face

finding footing.

The time between reaching the jump site

and the jump—was short.

Thought, how high?

Thought, is it safe?

Thought, Go!

Yes

Jump
